Frugal Preschool at Home

My goal in writing this post is show other stay at home moms or dads that preschool can be done at home.  Preschool is an expense that just wasn't fitting into our budget.  Socially, we're involved with many different outlets, so I felt led to do preschool at home with Kyler and love it SO much.  In fact, so much that  it  led to our decision to Homeschool next year as well!   I just want to share some resources that have helped me along with way.  Whether you want to do preschool with your child or simply do some fun activities with them when you have time, there are so many websites out there full of wonderful ideas!  Here are a few pictures of things we've been doing around our home and then a list of links I encourage you to check out if your interested!

All of those printables are available for FREE from one of my very favorite websites called Confessions of a Homeschooler.

Cheap curriculum books at Sams for only $8!  I organized my supplies this way, currently by alphabet letter.
Utilize the library!  I picked up this puzzle at the Dollar Store!

Use things at home you already have! We had these for the bath tub!

 Take field trips!

Here are some great links to use to teach the alphabet:
When working with letters, there are so many ways to make it hands on and fun!  Your little one can create alphabet letters by tracing with his or her finger, painting, with markers, crayons, or color pencils. Have them make letters in shaving cream, flour, sand, pudding, on expo boards, with playdough, string, toothpicks, pipe cleaners,.... the possibilities are endless!

We have one letter a week we focus on and do activites such as brainstorming words that begin with the letter, cut pictures and letters out of magazines to make an ABC book, put letters in order with magnetic letters on a cookie sheet or with scrabble tiles.  We play matching games with notecards, eat snacks that begin with the letter, read stories, go on scavenger hunts, point out the letter as we drive, glue down the shape of the letter with cereal, stickers or buttons.  There are SO many things once you get started.  Just get creative with it!

Also,  here are some great links to learning games you can sit down and do with your child on the computer!
